Soup Kitchen in Need of people
- Soup Kitchen 30 Year Veteran Retires
After more than 3 decades volunteering for OLH at the Holy Family Soup Kitchen, Pat has hung up her apron. Pat was featured in an article in the News Sun on Thanksgiving Day 2020 (see pictures). Pat has been the OLH volunteer’s small, but fearless leader for years. OLH is responsible for staffing the Soup Kitchen on the fourth Thursday of every month. Now more than ever we will need people to step up and serve. The dinners are currently served carry-out until the end of the pandemic. Pat will continue to be the call person for volunteers, so give her a call at (847) 662-4095.
Sacristans Desperately Needed!
We are in desperate need of Sacristans for our weekend Masses. A Sacristan is someone that prepares the items that Father will be using to say the Mass. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to set up before Mass.
If any of the former Sacristans could possibly return, or if there are any other parishioners that would like to serve as Sacristans, please contact Peggy Reid at: (847) 872-8778.
Altar Linen Ministry
Are you looking for an opportunity to serve the Lord in your Home? With deep love and reverence for the Holy Eucharist, the Altar Linen Ministry cares for the sacred linens on a rotating schedule. Training is provided on how to care for these special linens that contain the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. This ministry is made up of team members who, behind the scenes in their own homes, reverently launder and care for the purificators and corporals used on the Altar at Mass.
If you have any questions, or are interested in volunteering for this Ministry, please feel free to contact the OLH Parish Rectory at: (847) 872-8778.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry donated Prayer Shawls to the Barton House and The Grove At The Lake over the Christmas season. Even though the Prayer Shawl Ministry is not able to meet at this time due to COVID, many of the women are still making these beautiful shawls and quilts with hopes of bringing peace and comfort to those in need.
If anyone is in need of a Prayer Shawl, or if you know someone who is, please contact the Parish Office at (847) 872-8778, so one may be set aside, and blessed for you or someone in need.
We can always use more voices and instrumentalists in the OLH virtual choir. We meet, via zoom, Friday evenings at 7pm for a short rehearsal. Choir members have a week to record two hymns at www.bandlab.com or using the bandlab app. The recorded hymns are used during the parking lot mass. The only requirements are that they enjoy singing and/or playing an instrument and that they have headphones/earbuds and a device (computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) to record on.
If interested contact Angela Conover - firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Parish Rectory at 847-872-8778

Annual Catholic Appeal - Commitment Weekend
This week, I ask you to prayerfully consider what pledge you would like to make. The Appeal provides ministries and services throughout the Archdiocese which benefits our Parish. I invite all of us to contemplate God’s many gifts to us, and renew a sense of gratitude for what we have. Your financial support for the work of our Parish, our Archdiocese, and the Church throughout the world is one way to express this gratitude. Please give generously to the 2021 Annual Catholic Appeal.
