A Note From The Pastor

Category: Parish News,

This weekend we have our Annual Second Collection for the Priests’ Health and Retirement Fund (PRMAA) which provides for the health and well-being of 469 Active and 246 Retired Archdiocesan Priests. Healthcare and retirement costs are rising, so there is an urgent need for your support. Your generosity to the Priests’ Health and Retirement/PRMAA ensures our Priests can continue their meaningful work in our parishes by providing funds for: Health Insurance, Medication,

Wellness Costs, Nursing Care, Independent Retirement Living Residences, and Priests’ Retirement Funds. Your generosity will not only ensure the health and well-being of our Priests, but also support their ability to continue meaningful work in our parishes and communities. Please know that this collection specifically benefits Priests of the Archdiocese of Chicago. You can make a gift online, or you may send your contribution to:

Miracles do happen! Bingo is returning this Saturday, June 12th, and the Knights of Columbus will continue for the following dates: June 26th, July 10th and July 24th, and August 7th and August 21st. After that, OLH School Volunteers will continue to offer Bingo. I am grateful to Chuck Roberts and the Knights for making this happen — Thanks!

On that note, Our Lady of Humility is looking for a replacement Bingo Coordinator. The individual will be responsible for coordinator teams, ensuring supplies are ordered by the Rectory, and training new volunteers as needed. We are envisioning two Saturdays a month, giving maximum opportunity for vacation during the summer and school year. The individual will have to master the dreaded Bingo Machine. It is actually very simple to operate. If you are interested in volunteering for this position, please see me after Mass, or visit the Rectory.

I’m also delighted to announce that Donut Sunday will be returning next Sunday, June 20th. Special Thanks to Richard McFarlin and the Knights of Columbus for making this happen. There is one technical detail: If people are going to stay past 10:40AM, I ask that you please move your car to either the far South-Eastern portion of the Main Parking Lot, or to the small (North) Eastern Parking Lot, so that we can prepare for the Parking Lot Mass.

As I type this column, I haven’t heard any information about relaxing COVID restrictions, but I anticipate this will happen. There will probably be updated information as you arrive for Mass this weekend. Please be flexible with the Greeters during this fluid situation.

God Bless,

Fr. Paul
