A Note From The Pastor

Category: Parish News,

Advent is flying by – this is already the Second Sunday of Advent. As always, I highly encourage you to go to Confession. We have Confessions on Saturdays from 3:30PM to 4:30PM. I will also be hearing Confessions on Thursday Evenings shortly after Benediction at 6PM. Little Flower has Confessions on Saturday Mornings from 7:30AM to 8:30AM at the St. Dismas Site. Marytown in Libertyville continues to have Confessions Monday – Friday from 10AM to 11AM, and from 6PM to 7PM until Thursday, December 23rd.

This Wednesday, December 8th, is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. It is a Holy Day of Obligation. We will have Mass at 7AM, 9AM, and 7PM. Unfortunately, the 9AM School Mass is not open to the public due to social distancing issues.

The Our Lady of Guadalupe Novena has begun; please refer to the bulletin for details. We will have our Annual Simbang Gabi Mass on Tuesday, December 21st, at 7PM. And next Saturday we will have an OLH Student participation Mass at 5PM. All are welcome.

Christmas Flower Donation Envelopes are available on the tables at the main entrances of the Church. Please return them by Monday, December 20th. You may deposit them in the collection basket at Sunday Mass, or drop them off at the Rectory. Please make checks payable to “Our Lady of Humility Church”.

We will continue to have a Second Collection for our “Homes for Christmas” Outreach Drive through Cross Catholic Outreach (CCO). CCO is partnering with Father Raúl Monterroso in the Diocese of Santa Rosa de Lima in Guatemala to build safe, concrete block homes for 80 impoverished families. I’m hoping our Parish raises $6,034 to build a home in Guatemala for a family.

Every Christmas we experience the challenge of having Ushers at every Mass. Please consider volunteering to serve; there are Sign-up Sheets on the Usher’s Table outside the Confessional.

The Co-Ed Senior Luncheon will take place at 12 Noon this Wednesday, December 8th. The Sign-up Sheet is in the back of Church by the west doors.

Our Christmas Schedule of Masses is listed in this bulletin. However, as we will be uniting with St. Patrick’s in Wadsworth, I thought I would list the Schedule of Masses for both Parishes. Please note how our schedules complement each other:

Let us solemnly continue to prepare for the Lord Jesus’ coming at Christmas, at the end of lives, and at the end of time.

Peace and God Bless,

Fr. Paul
