It’s already mid-May, and soon the academic year will be over – time is flying by! This Sunday is the Fifth Sunday of Easter; in two weeks we will celebrate Jesus’ Ascension into Heaven; one week after that, we will celebrate Pentecost, the Easter Season will end, and we will return to Ordinary Time. This week and next week, our Gospels will be pointing the way towards those two special celebrations. In this week’s Gospel, Jesus is preparing His disciples for His departure.
This Sunday we welcome our OLH Second Graders as they will be participating in various ministries at Mass. It’s always great to have the students participate at Mass, and they will be very excited as many of them just received their First Holy Communion last Saturday. Be sure to thank them and give them a warm OLH Welcome! Special Thanks to the OLH School for putting this together.
This Sunday, May 15th, the Legion of Mary and the Knights of Columbus will host an Outdoor Rosary at 1PM. All are Welcome.
At all of the Masses next weekend, we will have a Second Collection for our Ugandan Seminarian Appeal; this collection supports the Seminary where our beloved Fr. Charles Ssennyondo teaches. You may either contribute to the Greatest Need Fund, or actually Sponsor One Seminarian ($600/Year covers Tuition, Housing, and Food), and correspond with him. By contrast, the charge for Tuition, Room, and Board for a Seminarian in the United States, is at least $40,000 per academic year. In our country, relatively few men are responding to God’s call to the priesthood; in Africa there is an abundance of men responding to Jesus’ call, but funding is lacking to educate these good, young men. Please consider supporting the National Seminary Ggaba where vocations are booming.
Save Some Dates: We will have our Annual Summerfest and a Farewell Celebration for me on Sunday, June 12th, beginning with Mass at 11AM followed by food, games, and festivities. Also, this year’s celebration of Our Mother of Perpetual Help will be celebrated on Saturday, June 25th, at OLH, beginning with a Novena at 1:30PM, followed by Mass at 2PM, followed by a Reception in the Parish Center.
Please continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life, as well as for our OLH students, especially those who recently received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion.
